We also have an environmentally friendly way of raising much-needed funds; we collect surplus rags from jumble sales. All of the rags are sorted and transported to an authorised recycling centre. This helps us, and also helps other good causes who raise funds using jumble sales, who may otherwhise have difficulty in disposing of large amounts of unwanted material’s. This also helps to reduce the amount of recyclable waste that would otherwhise end up in landfill. We have so far helped to reduce landfil in Lancashire by some 15 ton per year. During the 13 years we have been doing this we have raised an estimated £50,000. During 2006 as part of of restructuring, our recycling will unfortunately come to an end; this is for a number of reasons such as cost of running our own lorry and manpower. We would like to thank all those who have helped in this venture.
