It is decided that even though we have a large unknown expense this camp it is necessary to send the Mini Bus over with tent donated by the Guides as we are in desperate need for leaders tentage.
At the same time we hold a selection board for the Romanian team. Also Jock and Jean Morton and myself visit two new institutions where it is felt help is needed

We thought last year was bad weather wise but this camp was the wettest we have ever had. Looking back we have been very lucky. Previously we have never had more than an odd day of constant down pour and have had to evacuate only for three days at the most. This year we had one week when we could have no children at all and one week when we could only have them for three days. Fortunately we were able to visit the orphanages and hospital and only one orphanage missed out coming to camp completely. We had 25 Romanian volunteers and 18 British and two from Austria.
The Marquees managed to hold out though the sky can now be seen through the rook so are only good as sunshades.
We now have a leader area round the back, which is a pleasant and much needed addition. It is envisaged next year having a more adventurous programme for the 13+ including bivouacking, backwoods cooking on top of the usual Canoeing and Archery. Alex assures us this can be arranged in the forest.
This year the team visited a Blind School and took special games and taught the children to play> (It wasn't long before they were better at it than the team) also went to "Gulliver" an orphanage for children with AIDS and HIV to play games. We hope that we will be able to give these two institutions more help next year.
This year under the new regulations we had to employ a qualified registered cook. We got Carmen who was a great asset and got on with everyone.
Unfortunately because another camp had had food poisoning the Health people were very, very careful and required some really stupid requirements. Fortunately our lawyer went to see them and it was agreed we run the camp this year but we have to comply with further agreed regulations next year. Including a filter system for the water from the wells. A problem but not insurmountable
